Issue: CBS cancels “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” amid major financial losses.
The cancellation of “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” isn’t the result of some grand conspiracy.
It’s all about money. Fewer viewers mean less revenue.
Maybe it’s time for all late-night hosts to study the legends like Johnny Carson and Jay Leno. There’s a lot to learn from those guys.
The cancellation reflects a trend where shows that lose relevance can’t survive.
Many viewers are fatigued by Colbert’s frequent criticism of President Trump. To some, his humor, political guests, and the studio audience responses feel far from entertaining.
While critics say that Colbert’s show is political, there’s a glaring truth: it has lost millions in viewership.
I can only hope that Jimmy Kimmel will take note and rethink his own trajectory.
Trump’s actions have notably affected public radio and now CBS has hit the brakes on Colbert’s show. Honestly, I’m surprised it took this long for them to acknowledge it.
I’m left wondering about the implications of these changes.
Lack of interest is one reason to cancel a show like Colbert’s. But the constant political commentary against Trump might be another reason viewers have tuned out.
It’s worth noting that 77 million people voted for Trump in 2016. It seems many were just tired of Colbert’s approach.
Seeing Colbert’s and Seth Meyers’ shows as “Hate Show” and “Hate Night” instead of their current titles might even make more sense.
Colbert certainly didn’t make it into the list of greats like Carson, Leno, or Letterman. His divisive comments have, I think, negatively impacted late-night comedy.
Issue: The accusation of Tulsi Gabbard, whose team knew Russia would not affect the 2016 election outcome.
National Intelligence Director Tarshi Gabbard claimed that former President Obama spread the narrative about Russia’s influence on the 2016 election.
The media has covered this accusation extensively. If there’s any truth to it, it seems Obama manipulated circumstances to undermine Trump, all while maintaining silence on the allegations.
Obama may have wanted Trump to suffer politically, but that approach didn’t pan out.
If Gabbard’s findings are accurate, it’s frankly embarrassing for Democrats, who have let their animosity towards Trump cloud their judgment.
Democrats were so wrapped up in their disdain that they ignored their duty to govern effectively. Perhaps it’s time for them to take responsibility and face the consequences of their actions.
