“As a Muslim, you always ask: “Did I please God or did I anger him or her?”
Imam Mushin Hendrix of Cape Town, South Africa, was the world's first openly gay imam. In early February he was shot and killed, and the identity and motive of the person responsible is still unknown.
Reporter Jamie Fullerton I met Imam Mushin at his inner mosque and visited. He says Hannah Moore It describes Mushin's “pure love” and the inclusive community building and wedding ban that the Imam undertook, and the Bible foundations that were based on his practice.
Imam Musin chose “faith in fear,” which not only led him to debate with Islamic leaders, but also supported sessions across the African continent, where other strange Muslims were placed in a place of self-acceptance. It helped me to reach it. Now, in the wake of the murder of Imam, Jamie explains that it is unclear who will continue his job.
