The NFL Combine brought some big news and a massive trade

The 2025 NFL combine came and disappeared, causing a predictable amount of chaos.

Last week, here Skinny Post We, Michael Peterson and RJ Ochoa, did not think that the hypothetical Matthew Stafford trade would really benefit anyone. Stafford was spoken as the week went up and eventually got a new contract from the Los Angeles Rams.

But the first trade of the offseason did It still happens while the combine rolls as the San Francisco 49ers sent Devo Samuel to the Washington commander. The franchise tag deadline is this week, with next week's legal tampering and free agency kickoff… Things are moving.

The commander is officially looking for it…is that so?

RJ:

The biggest gift in soccer is the quarterback who has a rookie contract. Most teams do everything they can to make use of it, and Washington has proven to be smarter in this bare minimum sense (not their shot).

I used the phrase “seek for it” here, but I add that it should be better in terms of what I clear that bar as a football fan. This is an example of a commander trying to improve and maximize the important window. I look forward to it Teams who do these obvious things.

I feel this kind of thing in Washington is particularly unusual given who they were, but my goodness is round the corner as a franchise. Divo is not the person he was once, but rivals within the Commander's division prove that you don't have to be a superhero all the time. Adding lots of really good players to your roster will result in much higher rooms for your floors and errors.

Michael:

I really love this move for the commander. The cost of a five-round draft pick is very ideal for landing players like Devo Samuel, and his skill set really suits Cliff Kingsbury's offense in Washington, even if it's the guy you mentioned. In addition to Daniels' double threat capabilities, you add Samuel's double threat capabilities and go with studs like Terry McClaulin and Brian Robinson Jr., along with Austin Ekeller's double threat capabilities.

This isn't the most flashy offensive skill group in the NFL, but like you said, they have just a handful of very solid players who can be promoted by the synergy of good play characters and the overall great team. It's the same formula that Raven used with Lamar Jackson, and we've seen how consistently successful it has been in recent years.

What outlook is the biggest winner of NFL Combine?

Michael:

There were many outstanding performers at this year's NFL Combine, but what stood out for me was the strange safety from South Carolina's Nick Emanwy. The man burned 4.38 on a 6'3, 220 pounds, with a 40-yard dash. His 43-inch vertical marks the top three mark in the history of the event, with 20 reps at the bench press the most of his position this year.

Daniel Jeremiah and Rich Eisen had a comparison of DK Metcalf on the air, but I think that's pretty accurate after Emanwy of the show became his size.

RJ:

I stick to one of my own and offer Camskattebo, Arizona.

Scattebo won the Sun Devils' big 12 titles in their first season in a conference behind him, then swept the world of college football with their best performance ever with a Peach Bowl loss. tl;dr, he is a college football legend.

Some people assumed this was just a stickler to the CFB and that his nature (he's running hard) would not translate into the NFL, but he tested pretty well and really stood out in his vertical jumps.

Even if you don't know it yet, it's the world of Cam Scottebo.

Sign Aaron Rodgers

RJ:

As stated at the top, we are about a week away from the offseason of the NFL to another dimension. Aaron Rodgers appears to have enjoyed occupying another dimension in the past few years, and it appears he is about to drag another NFL team with him soon.

Matthew Stafford, who is staying in LA, clearly robs the Rams from the list of teams pursuing Rodgers, but he's seen the NFL team do anything in the name of finding a capable quarterback. That position is so important.

At this point, the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders feel like the most likely destinations for Rogers, but should I see this? Is there one of us who thinks it works moderately?

Again, some teams want to talk about themselves that it's a decent idea. But the overwhelming odds are not.

Michael:

I'm camp where Aaron is on the same quick downward slope that Peyton Manning took in Denver last year or so. There's still a flash that reminds us of the vintage version of the player we're watching, but for the most part it was a bit sad to see him struggling in New York. To be honest, I don't think he was as much of a player around him as Rogers showed it to me.

A QB Needy team like the Giants could probably use him as a bridge quarterback and draft another team this year and next year, but Rogers' time in the spotlight is quickly diminishing. As you said, the Raiders are other teams that can use his services for at least one season, but none of his apparent choices have a better roster than the Jets in 2024.

Will the Bengals regret WR Higgins tagging franchise?

Michael:

Bengal officially used the franchise tag for receiver Tee Higgins for the second time in many seasons. This year, the tag will pay Higgins $26 million unless both parties can come together in a longer-term deal than the 2025 season.

Is this the right move for Bengals as the Bengalis are trying to push back over the hump? The inevitable Ja'marr Chase extension is likely to reset the market for positions, and after the 2024 campaign ends, Higgins' potential deals aren't always team-friendly. There is clearly a problem with Bengal. The defense was horrifying, and the offensive line was pretty rough to protect Joe Burrow.

When the Bengalis made the Super Bowl, they did it with a powerful defense that retreated Barrow while the offensive line was still in a hellish scene. They are unable to enter the 2025 season and both obvious issues are still in place and hopefully improve in recent seasons. Can they pack enough holes in the roster with the rest of the cap space, following Higgins' new deal? I think you'll know the time.

RJ:

My overall perspective here is that you pay to keep a good football player. As you start to worry about the smallest details of how it all comes together, you start to realize you're in some pickles in my mind.

Is it ideal to tie up a lot of money with attacks? No, obviously not. In the overall sense, you would prefer to balance much more.

But Tee Higgins is a great player and can help the Bengali people more than they can help anyone. Even if this was the second tag year… it's logical.

Suitable for Cincinnati. I trust them.
