The Ocho schedule and details from the strangest weekend in sports

The Return of “ESPN8: The Ocho” for a Weekend of Quirky Sports

If you’re into unusual sports, this weekend is definitely for you. “ESPN8: The Ocho” is back, transforming ESPN2 into a bizarre mix of competitions for three whole days. What started as a playful concept from the 2004 movie Dodgeball: The True Stories of the Underdog has now become an annual occurrence, showcasing everything from paintball matches to goat races.

The programming runs from the evening of Thursday, July 31, to Sunday, August 3. While many events have already taken place, this marks the first time they’re being broadcast on TV. You can check out the complete schedule at the end of this article, but here are some highlights to look out for this weekend.

Nulu Bock Fest Goat Racing Championships – Thursday at 10:30 PM

Picture goats racing through the streets of Louisville—some even dressed in costumes. Honestly, what’s not to love?

Wisconsin Auctioneers Championship – 3 AM Friday

Competitors put their auctioneering skills to the test, focusing on speed, accuracy, and showmanship to determine who reigns supreme among Wisconsin livestock auctioneers. It’s pretty fascinating, honestly.

Slippery Stairs – Friday at 6 PM

This one’s as straightforward as it sounds. Contestants try to climb slippery stairs, and yes, the falls are all for our viewing pleasure. It’s somehow the perfect blend of chaos and comedy.

Karjitsu Championship – Friday at 11:30 PM

Imagine Brazilian jiu-jitsu, but, get this, it’s happening inside a car. It’s a unique twist on fighting—like a strange version of sibling rivalry during a road trip.

Microsoft Excel World Championships – Saturday at 3 AM

Are you willing to stay up late to watch spreadsheet enthusiasts compete? Apparently, it’s a thing.

Coffin Wars: Grapple to the Grave – Saturday at 9:30 PM

So, you know about fighting in cars. What if we packed it all into a coffin? Well, you’ll just have to tune in to find out.

Microsoft Excel World Championship 2024 – Sunday at 6 AM
