The Rise of Jamal Musiala
Jamal Musiala’s ascent in the world of soccer has been nothing short of remarkable, capturing the attention of fans and experts alike.
As a key player for Bayern Munich, who secured the Bundesliga title last season, Musiala finished the 2024 campaign with an impressive tally of 21 goals across all competitions, complemented by eight assists. One of his standout performances was a spectacular four-goal game against Mainz last October.
What’s particularly striking is that Musiala, who holds dual citizenship in Nigeria and the UK, signed his contract just days before turning 22.
…and the Club World Cup
This summer, Bayern participated in the FIFA Club World Cup, where Musiala picked up right where he left off, scoring a hat-trick against Auckland City—a match reminiscent of a dominant 10-0 victory against the Australian team.
On July 5, during a match against Paris Saint-Germain at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Musiala faced a serious injury after colliding with Gianluigi Donnarumma, the former PSG and Italian national goalkeeper. The impact resulted in a broken fibula and an ankle dislocation.
Sadly, Bayern was defeated 2-0 by PSG, resulting in their elimination from the quarter-finals. Musiala, visibly upset, left the field in tears while being helped off, but he remained optimistic about his recovery. A few days post-injury, he mentioned: “These things happen, I’m going to focus on the positive… I can’t wait to come back.”
Musiala aims to return to Bayern this season, and it seems the club is eager to have him back. He has been training, and as of late September, it was confirmed that he would be on the squad for upcoming Champions League fixtures.
Bayern’s next match is against the Greek club Paphos, scheduled for Tuesday, while fans are left wondering whether Musiala will be present after missing the team’s opener against Chelsea on September 18, where they won 3-1.
In a tentative timeline shared by sources, Musiala is expected to see action again as early as November, with hopes for a full return by December. This would undoubtedly be a welcomed early holiday present for Bayern fans eagerly awaiting his comeback.
