Max Homa tried to reassure people on social media Sunday morning, as he always does.
a Video has been published On Saturday night, a shot of Homa from the 14th rough at The Players Championship was posted on Instagram. The video showed the fan head-on, and the look and sound of it led many to wonder if the fan had his head crushed.
Golf Digest writer Christopher Powers posted an IG video on X’s feed that went viral with over 1 million views.
Thankfully, Homa was aware; handled the situation.
“For your information, I didn’t hit anyone in the head on the 14th yesterday. It smoked wood. I’m really grateful we missed that guy. It would have been devastating. Great video, if I do say so myself,” Homa wrote to X.
Interestingly, one fan responded to his comment joking about Homa smoking wood, clearly alluding to marijuana.
To no one’s surprise, Homa saw that and responded to his fans the way only he can.
It’s no surprise that my ball was high considering my poor play.I should have taken a drug test before the round.

“It’s no surprise that my ball was high considering how poorly I played. I should have taken a drug test before the round,” Homa replied.
In fact, the Burbank, Calif., native struggled in the third round. He shot a 2-over 74 on the day after shooting a 3-over 75. Any chance of a strong finish disappeared over the past two days.
He finished the tournament Sunday with a 1-under 71, finishing the tournament at even par.
Homa may not have performed as well as expected this week, but at least he still has a sense of humor.
