Scottie Scheffler is coming off a dominating win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and will look to repeat his winning streak this week at The Players Championship.
Before defending his title, Scheffler spoke to the media about a variety of topics. But his scathing words about where disgruntled fans should direct their anger raised eyebrows.
He was asked about fan dissatisfaction with the PGA Tour, specifically the players headed to LIV Golf.
“We continue to grow with what we’re doing and what they’re doing doesn’t really interest me,” he said. “If the fans are upset, look at the people who left. We were on tour, we were all together, and the people who left are no longer here. At the end of the day, from there. It creates division.”

“We’re doing everything we can to create the best work for our fans, but we can’t control whether they want to leave or not,” Scheffler said. “If guys want to take the money and walk out, that’s their decision. I’m not going to sit here and tell guys not to take hundreds of millions of dollars. If you think it’s best, get out.” Do it. ”
In typical Schaeffler fashion, he laid out the facts mercilessly and matter-of-factly on this issue, and he’s right.
I don’t think he cares what LIV Golf is doing. He plays on his PGA Tour and hopes to continue his activities while contributing to the growth of the sport.
The former Texas Longhorn believes in the product the PGA Tour has produced. He’s made $49 million since 2020, so why would he say no to touring?
