Cooper Flagg has made headlines yet again.
A jersey he wore during his NBA debut with the Dallas Mavericks earlier this season sold for a staggering $1 million in a private sale, as reported by Sotheby’s.
This sale not only marks the highest price for any Flagg memorabilia, but it also sets a record for the most expensive jersey ever sold at auction, surpassing the $762,000 previously fetched by Victor Wembanyama’s debut jersey.
The number 32 jersey was confirmed to be sold privately for $1 million, according to Sotheby’s.
According to Brahm Wachter, head of contemporary collectibles at Sotheby’s, “The $1 million achievement for Flagg’s rookie jersey highlights how collectors value true ‘first moments’ in sports.”
He added, “This jersey signifies the start of a promising career filled with high expectations.”
