Wales Royals Express Concern Over Epstein Files
The Prince and Princess of Wales issued a statement on Monday expressing their deep concern regarding the latest revelations from the Jeffrey Epstein documents, as shared by Kensington Palace.
A representative for Prince William and Duchess Kate mentioned to the BBC, “We can confirm that the Prince and Princess are deeply concerned about the ongoing exposure.” They also emphasized that “their thoughts remain focused on the victims.”
This public remark comes as scrutiny intensifies around Epstein’s ties with former Prince and Duke of York Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. King Charles III removed Andrew’s royal titles back in October.
Notably, the Epstein files disclosed in late January by the Department of Justice include references to Mountbatten-Windsor. They consist of a formal legal assistance request dated April 3, 2020, directed towards UK authorities in connection with ongoing investigations involving Epstein and former fashion mogul Peter Nygard.
The document outlines attempts by U.S. prosecutors to interview Mountbatten-Windsor as a crucial witness, as well as to gather records pertaining to his communications, travel, and relationships during the inquiry.
According to investigators, information suggests that Mountbatten-Windsor might have been a “witness and/or participant in certain events of relevance” to the Epstein case. The document indicates claims from victims and supporting evidence concerning his potential knowledge of Ghislaine Maxwell’s involvement in the recruitment of young women for Epstein.
However, the Justice Department clarified that Mountbatten-Windsor is not considered a subject in the investigation and no evidence has been collected indicating he has committed any crime under U.S. laws.
The former prince has recently denied these allegations, stating in October that he would cease using royal titles and honors. He remarked, “After discussions with the King and my immediate family, I have realized that ongoing accusations will disrupt the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family. I stand by my prior decision to step back from public life.”
Mountbatten-Windsor added, “With His Majesty’s consent, I feel we need to take this a step further. Thus, I no longer intend to use my title or honors.” He has consistently refuted the charges leveled against him.
