Josh Simmons’ Status with the Chiefs Unclear
Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Josh Simmons was taken in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he was expected to play a pivotal role in the team’s offense. This season, he participated in five games but missed the last two, leaving many questions about his situation. He was noted on the injury report for personal reasons last week, although there hadn’t been any mention of it before the game against the Detroit Lions.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid mentioned there was no new information regarding Simmons and noted that general manager Brett Veach is managing the situation. Reid stated, “We’re just going to move forward with it.”
During the NFL autumn meetings, team owner Clark Hunt was also asked about Simmons. His response was rather vague: “I really can’t comment,” he told ESPN.
Furthermore, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes hinted that Simmons might be facing serious issues, and reports indicated he returned home to address family matters.
Mahomes expressed ongoing concern for Simmons, stating, “We’re going to continue the conversation between the two of us. But I always pray for him. I pray for him all the time because I pray for all of my teammates. Other than that, I’ll keep it a secret from us.”
Interestingly, the Chiefs seem to have found some offensive rhythm in recent weeks, securing significant victories against the Lions and the Las Vegas Raiders. Meanwhile, Jaylon Moore has stepped in to take Simmons’ place on the line.
