On Monday, during FNC’s “Fox & Friends,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem defended the Trump administration’s actions to enforce current immigration laws.
Noem noted that under the Actual Identification Act, which comes into effect next month, domestic travelers must “comply with their real ID” in order to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.
“It’s amazing how President Trump is already doing with closing his borders. He continues to enforce federal laws and do everything he can to identify people in this country that don’t belong here, to make sure he’s committed a crime and give him the opportunity to do that.
“Joe Biden kicked the can until May 7th. The actual ID would simply empower the state to verify people’s residences, and it would confirm their current legal status,” Noem continued. “We make sure that people who have a Social Security number in this country are not voting in the state. The state has the authority and information to ensure election integrity. Here, that information will not be biometric information. Good.”
