Trump Affirms Right to Bear Arms During National Shooting Sports Month
President Trump has reaffirmed that the “God-given right to possess arms will not be infringed,” as part of his message for National Shooting Sports Month.
In his statement, he emphasized the enduring traditions of hunters, fishermen, sportsmen, and gun owners, who reflect the fundamental American values of freedom, responsibility, and independence. This month, his administration is celebrating these cherished aspects of American heritage.
Trump pointed out that since the Second Amendment was ratified in 1791, shooting sports have fostered values such as focus, discipline, and trust among citizens. He mentioned that these activities not only connect generations but also strengthen communities and characterize the republic. He added that sports like hunting and fishing allow many Americans to appreciate the beauty of nature.
He stated, “And above all, I recommend the eternal truth that our constitutional rights come not from the hands of government, but from the hands of Almighty God.”
Joe Bartozzi, the president and CEO of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, commended Trump’s message. He remarked on the distinction in political leadership, noting that the current administration recognizes and celebrates responsible firearm ownership and the freedoms associated with it.
Bartozzi expressed gratitude to Trump for his commitment to upholding these freedoms and for supporting all Americans engaged in shooting sports.
