Davey Chase, who was once worth $400,000, unfortunately found herself living on the streets of downtown Los Angeles when she passed away.
The actress, known for her role in the 2002 film The Ring and as the voice of Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, died last month at the young age of 35. Her mother, Kathy Chase, revealed in court documents that Davey had a personal estate valued at $400,000.
Kathy is requesting the court to appoint her as the administrator of Davey’s estate.
In the documents, Kathy mentioned that Davey’s father, John Schwarrier, is believed to be living in the Philippines at an unknown address, though he still owns property in Las Vegas.
A coroner’s report from Los Angeles County, also obtained last month, listed the main cause of Davey’s death as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Additionally, chronic polysubstance use was noted, reflecting the usage of multiple drugs within a brief timeframe.
Davey, who never married or had children, had a boyfriend named Roy Hernandez. He initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help her find peace and solace in her final days.
Hernandez expressed on the campaign page, “My girlfriend Davey Chase has always been the light of my life. She was recognized for her roles in various films like Lilo & Stitch and Donnie Darko, but behind the scenes, she faced numerous challenges.”
Despite the claims made in the GoFundMe, John Ryan, her former manager, urged fans not to donate, asserting that Hernandez is not known to her family or friends. He clarified that he had already set up a trust account to cover costs related to Davey’s situation.
Ryan managed Davey for over a decade and claimed that there were “millions” of unclaimed balance checks at the time of her passing.
Video footage obtained last month showed Davey looking extremely thin and barely conscious in an area of Los Angeles known as Skid Row.
Ryan shared that he had been searching for her. In 2025, with help from his sister-in-law, he managed to contact her, but after a brief conversation, she once again vanished.
“We were so close to finding her,” Ryan reflected. “Davey was such a bright presence in Hollywood. It’s hard to accept that she’s gone. Her legacy will endure.”
