Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is headed to WrestleMania and has Roman Reigns in his sights.
WWE held a non-official match on Friday Night SmackDown as both cousins faced each other for the first time during Reigns’ historic 1,200-plus day World Championship reign.
Although the two didn’t say anything, WWE teased a press conference for WrestleMania 40 in Las Vegas on Thursday.
The two have never faced each other before and could be the main event on the second night of back-to-back WrestleMania on April 6th and 7th at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. This is a dream come true as it is expensive.
There was no immediate word on whether Reigns’ championship was on the line.
The Rock was a surprise for SmackDown, which had advertised that back-to-back Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes was making a decision on who he would face at WrestleMania. Either a rematch from last year’s show, a rematch with the undisputed WWE Universal Champion Reigns, or a World Heavyweight title. Champion Seth Rollins.
Rose, who pointed out Reigns after winning last week’s Royal Rumble, had doubts planted in his mind by Rollins on Raw earlier this week.
Rollins told him that he should pursue his title, the flagship title that his father, Dusty Rhodes, won.
Rose said one of the people she consulted about her decision was The Rock, who had a hit song at the time.

This led to WWE having a storyline where Rose gracefully declined to face Reigns and saw him defeat the Tribal Chief and win the title his father never got to “end the story.” He was able to make it seem like this was all his idea to the fans who wanted to win.
I wonder if this was a call from WWE after Rollins’ rumored opponent, CM Punk, tore his right triceps during the Royal Rumble and had to miss WrestleMania. It is unknown.
However, WWE felt Reigns and Rock would go this route after the Hollywood star asked if they should “sit at the head of the table” on Smackdown in January.
The 51-year-old Rock, who recently joined WWE’s parent company TKO, hasn’t fought in a competitive match since losing to John Cena at WrestleMania 29 at MetLife Stadium in 2013.
He and Raines have history in Philadelphia.
At the 2015 Royal Rumble at the Wells Fargo Center, The Rock raised Reigns’ hand after Reigns’ babyface push failed and he won in an unpopular segment.
All of this comes during a tumultuous two weeks for WWE after a bombshell civil lawsuit was filed against former boss Vince McMahon and former employee Janelle Grant over sexual assault and sex trafficking allegations. happening in between.
After news of the lawsuit broke, McMahon resigned as executive chairman of TKO’s board and is also under federal investigation for the same charges, according to the Wall Street Journal.
