Chicago Sky Faces Tough Loss Against New York Liberty
It was quite a night for the Chicago Sky, particularly for their player Angel Reese. The team went up against the WNBA champions, the New York Liberty, and suffered a significant defeat, losing 99-74. However, what’s really capturing attention isn’t just the score, but rather Reese’s challenging moment in the first quarter.
Just a few minutes into the game, Reese found herself in a tough spot. In a mere 19 seconds, she managed to rack up five offensive rebounds, but this was largely due to her inability to make a shot. Right under the basket, she missed four consecutive attempts, with a couple getting blocked. This awkward series finally concluded when she passed the ball to her teammate, who also missed a three-pointer, adding to the overall comical nature of the situation.
The video of Reese’s struggles has since gone viral, sparking plenty of laughter on social media. In fact, one user jokingly remarked that she “hasn’t beat the allegations” about her performance.
There’s also a funny moment in the stats from the game: Reese ended with just 2 points, 12 rebounds (8 offensive), 5 turnovers, and went 0-8 from the field. Not a great night, for sure.
Interestingly, I had a quick chat with my wife about Reese before putting this together. She was quite puzzled about how someone with such a rough shooting night could still have a McDonald’s combo deal, raising the question of how that works in the world of sports.
This made me reflect — perhaps there’s a rivalry brewing, likening Reese to Kendrick Lamar and her competitor Caitlyn Clark to Drake. Their dynamic seems to create quite the buzz in the WNBA lately.
It’s a strange mix of admiration and reality, really. Sure, Reese has her moments, but last night wasn’t one of them.
