Tyreek Hill’s Tense Relationship with the Dolphins Grows Complicated

The relationship between Tyreek Hill and the Miami Dolphins seems to be taking another unusual turn. Recently, the star wide receiver expressed his thoughts to reporters regarding Devon Achane’s suitability for short-yardage plays. Hill suggested that Coach Mike McDaniel might have already made decisions about the position last Sunday.

“How about using Devon [Achane] on third downs? What’s that about?” Hill remarked when discussing the team’s struggles with short-yardage situations last season. “Honestly, I don’t see him as a power back—though he may think otherwise in the locker room.”

When McDaniel weighed in on Sunday, his reaction appeared to be a mix of amusement and irritation over Hill’s comments. “Tyreek has some good points, especially since he was present during the short-yardage drills,” McDaniel noted. “Our running backs coach, Eric Studesville, effectively presented our backs in that context.”

Interestingly, Hill also hinted at the possibility of wanting to leave Miami, having previously apologized during Super Bowl Week. At the conclusion of last season, there were murmurs about his future with the team.

Additionally, it was reported that Hill arrived late for the Dolphins’ stretching session, despite having emphasized the importance of punctuality just days earlier.

Now in his 10th NFL season, Hill has had a mix of performances. He recorded 81 receptions and six touchdowns for 959 yards this past year. This comes on the heels of a standout 2023 season, where he led the league with impressive stats—1,799 yards, 13 touchdowns, and an average of 112.4 yards per game.
