The Standard Agency matchmaker overcharged NYC dentist by $20K: lawsuit

According to a lawsuit filed this week, the California matchmaker allegedly stole the world-famous New York City dentist out of nearly $20,000.

Dr. Michael Gelb, 68, accused him of being based in Newport Beach Standard Agency, Inc.engaging in “deceptive” business practices by overcharging him for an astounding $19,500.

The alleged salary means that the standard institution breached a contract signed with the 30-year-old matchmaking outfit, according to a Gelb case filed with the Manhattan Supreme Court.

On its website, the Standard Agency claimed that it “evolved to be the leader in matchmaking services for the wealthy people of the country.”

Private matchmaking is available only to men who earn at least $400,000 a year. Or you can prove your net worth at least $3 million.

The Standard Agency initially charged the dentist a standard fee of $20,000 for “social referral services,” but according to the lawsuit it was accidentally charged him almost twice as much.

Under New York State law, “social referral services” must provide clients with a minimum number of referrals or future matches each month.

They are also prohibited from charging clients more than $25 if they are unable to meet the agreed referral quota.
