The standard Tom Brady will hold himself to in Fox’s NFL broadcast booth

Tom Brady might be the biggest unknown in the NFL this season.

Not because he’ll be on the field, but because it will be his first year in the Fox broadcast booth.

Brady will begin his new role as part of Fox’s top NFL broadcast team alongside Kevin Burkhart and Erin Andrews, marking his first foray into the broadcasting industry.

How Brady will fill that role has yet to be determined, and many have already offered their opinions on how the future Hall of Famer will perform, but on Monday, Brady himself gave a sneak peek at what football fans should expect from him.

In an interview, Brady told Colin Cowherd that he’s competitive in many areas of his career and life, but in broadcasting, being competitive isn’t enough.

“Obviously, as an announcer, I don’t think it’s about the competition,” Brady said on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” on Monday. “For me, it’s, did I give it my all? Did I give the fans everything they expected? That’s how I measure myself. At the end of every Sunday night, did I do a good enough job? Did I live up to the confidence that Fox had in me? Did I live up to the expectations of my teammates Kevin Burkhart, Erin (Andrews), Tom (Rinaldi) … and the whole track, the whole team? That’s ultimately how I’ll measure myself in my new role.”

Brady will make his debut with the network on Sept. 8 during the season’s opening weekend against the Browns and Cowboys.
