The surprising expense for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift to hire MSG for their wedding

Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift are reportedly spending around $3 million to host their wedding at Madison Square Garden for three days, as reported by TMZ.

The Super Bowl champion and pop icon plan to tie the knot on July 3. They’ve reserved the iconic venue for about $1 million each day, with plans to use the first day for preparations, the second for the wedding ceremony, and the third for cleanup.

Both Kelsey and Swift have performed numerous sold-out shows at MSG during their careers. However, even with the hype surrounding their wedding, they are paying standard rates for the venue, with no special arrangements in place.

Madison Square Garden, owned by Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corporation, will be closed for other events during their three-day celebration.

Previous reports indicated that Kelsey and Swift have personally invited over 1,000 guests to their wedding through phone calls and texts to maintain privacy.

The guest list is said to include a mix of high-profile names such as Karlie Kloss, Zoe Kravitz, Ed Sheeran, the Haim sisters, Suki Waterhouse, Gigi Hadid, and Selena Gomez.

A wedding planner in Manhattan speculated that costs for such a grand event could climb anywhere from $10 million to over $20 million. They noted that, for a wedding at this level, the venue fee is likely just a fraction of the total expenses, as power couples typically need a full staff, including security.

Sources had previously confirmed that Kelsey and Swift chose MSG partly due to their desire for privacy. While they haven’t shared extensive details about their wedding plans, there’s a sense that Swift prefers a July 4th celebration in New York.

Swift, a highly awarded musician, owns an apartment in Tribeca and is known for hosting lavish gatherings. Kelsey and Swift began dating in 2023 and announced their engagement in August of the previous year.
