Press release from the City of Eureka:

The City of Eureka is thrilled to announce that the Good Morning America team will be visiting this week. This event is part of a national series showcasing all 50 states in anticipation of the United States’ 250th anniversary.

On February 12th, 2026, Good Morning America will broadcast live from the Redwood Sky Walk at Sequoia Park Zoo. GMA contributor Becky Worley will highlight what makes California, and particularly Eureka, unique. It’s a proud moment for us, especially as Eureka also marks its 170th anniversary. The broadcast will prominently feature the Sequoia Park Zoo and the Redwood Sky Walk, which beautifully showcases our local environment.

Community Participation

About 50 residents will be invited to attend the live event, providing support in the background.

To ensure diversity in representation, small groups from various civic organizations will be invited. Each group can only bring a limited number of participants due to space constraints and the quick planning involved. This way, we gather voices from different parts of the community.

Though on-site attendance is limited, the City encourages everyone to participate by sharing their thoughts about Eureka on social media. Residents can post photos, videos, or messages, tagging the City of Eureka. The City will reshare these posts in the lead-up to the broadcast.

How to Watch & Stay Connected

While only a small group will be present during the live broadcast, the entire community is invited to watch Good Morning America on Thursday morning. The City urges everyone to engage by sharing their favorite aspects of Eureka on social media.

Updates, behind-the-scenes content, and highlights from the broadcast will be shared through the City’s social media channels and website as much as possible. We appreciate everyone’s enthusiasm and patience as we work to showcase Eureka on a larger platform.

Trail Closure and Filming Schedule

To facilitate the live broadcast, the trail beneath the Redwood Sky Walk will be temporarily closed during the early morning hours on February 12th. Filming will occur very early, while the zoo animals are still resting, so we kindly ask the public to avoid the broadcast location during that time. The trail will reopen as soon as filming concludes.

We are excited to feature our community, cherished locations, and the people who make Eureka special. We look forward to sharing Eureka’s story with a national audience.
