President-elect Trump flipped six competitive states in last week's election. But as a Fox News analysis last week showed, his gains in voter support were not limited to battleground states.
The list covers the 10 states where Trump outperformed his own margins the most in 2020.
Notably, the states on the list are not just conservative strongholds. The top 10 also includes areas with strong Democratic support. Trump didn't win these states, but they moved to the right.
Vote counting continues in some of the most populous states on this list, including California and New York.

1. New York
Note: As of this writing, approximately 3% of ballots in New York have yet to be counted.
- 2020 Winner: Biden +23.1 points
- 2024 Winner: Harris +11.8 points
- Leaning toward Trump: 11 points
So far, New York has swung to Trump by 11 points.

The president-elect improved his vote share by 6.3 points in 2020, but his Democratic opponent, Vice President Harris, lost 5 points.
He had his biggest swings in New York City and Long Island, winning all over the state.
On election night, the Fox News Decision Desk predicted that Harris would win the state. With 97% of the votes counted, she won by 12 points.

2. New Jersey
Note: As of this writing, approximately 1% of ballots in New Jersey have yet to be counted.
- 2020 Winner: Biden +15.9 points
- 2024 Winner: Harris +5.9 points
- Pro-Trump: 10 points
So far, Trump has a 10-point lead in New Jersey.
The president-elect improved his vote share in 2020 by 4.7 points, while Harris lost 5.3 points.

He won across New Jersey, with his biggest swings in the northeastern corner of the state. Hudson and Passaic counties lead the pack.

3. Florida
- 2020 Winner: Trump +3.3 points
- Winner in 2024: Trump +13.1 points
- Tilt towards Trump: 9.8 points
Florida went to Trump by 10 points.

The president-elect improved his vote share in 2020 by 4.9 points. Harris was off by the same amount.
He benefited throughout the state. The most notable change was in Miami-Dade County, which turned Republican for the first time since 1988.

4. Massachusetts
- 2020 winner: Biden +33.6 points
- 2024 Winner: Harris +24.8 points
- Tilt towards Trump: 8.8 points
Massachusetts went to Trump by 9 points.
The president-elect improved his vote share in 2020 by 4.2 points, while Harris lost 4.6 points.

He saw increases across the state, with double-digit increases in Suffolk and Bristol counties, which include Boston.
On election night, the Fox News Decision Desk predicted that Harris would win the state. With 99% of the votes counted, she won by 25 points.
5. California
Note: As of this writing, approximately 5% of California's ballots have not yet been counted.
- 2020 Winner: Biden +29.2 points
- 2024 Winner: Harris +20.6 points
- Tilt towards Trump: 8.6 points
So far, California is leaning 9 points toward Trump.

The president-elect recorded a 3.8-point improvement in his 2020 vote share, as Harris lost 4.8 points.
He made gains in many areas of the state, including Los Angeles and San Francisco, the two most populous cities.

6. Texas
- 2020 Winner: Trump +5.6 points
- Winner in 2024: Trump +13.9 points
- Tilt towards Trump: 8.3 points
Trump lost Texas by eight points.
The president-elect improved his vote share in 2020 by 4.2 points. Harris was off by about the same amount.

He made gains across Texas, with the biggest swings concentrated in the southern part of the state. For example, Webb County, home to Laredo, advanced 25 points to Trump. This gave the Republicans their first victory in this area in over a century.

7. Mississippi

So far, Mississippi is swinging 8 points against Trump.
The president-elect improved his 2020 vote share by four points. Harris was off by about the same amount.

He gained support across the state, including majority-black Yazoo County, which last voted Republican in 2004.

8. Rhode Island
- 2020 Winner: Biden +20.9 points
- 2024 Winner: Harris +13.6 points
- Tilt towards Trump: 7.3 points
Rhode Island went to Trump by seven points.

9. Tennessee

- Tilt towards Trump: 6.5 points
Tennessee went to Trump by 6.5 points.
The president-elect posted a 3.5-point improvement in his 2020 vote share, while Harris lost 3 points.

Despite worrying trends in recent years for Republicans outside of Nashville, Tennessee has tilted decisively in Mr. Trump's favor. Trousdale County, just outside the metropolitan area, tilted in the president-elect's favor by a double-digit margin. (St. Petersburg)
Results improved across the state, including double-digit growth in Trousdale County, a rural area outside of the Nashville metropolitan area.

10. Illinois

So far, Illinois is swinging 6 points against Trump.

The president-elect improved his vote share in 2020 by 3.4 points. Harris's rating fell by 2.9 points.
He posted a remarkable eight-point swing in Cook County, home of Chicago, and won across Illinois.
