The Utah Utes possess a hidden talent at tight end that you must see to understand.

The college football offseason is wrapping up, and as spring practice concludes, the depth chart is beginning to emerge. All the effort these young athletes have put into their training this winter is starting to show, and some may find themselves on noteworthy lists celebrating their physical advancements since camp commenced.

One particular tight end from the Utah Utes could find his name on such lists, but perhaps not in the conventional sense. When we think of “unique” tight ends, we often think of players like Gronkowski or Kyle Pitts—tall, fast athletes who create mismatches on the field due to their size and speed. However, this Utes tight end represents a different kind of uniqueness that you truly have to see to believe.

It’s almost surreal! There’s a lot to delve into here. For starters, this 336-pound powerhouse goes by the name “Semi,” which is so fitting that it makes you wonder if his parents had some kind of foresight. I mean, they couldn’t have picked a more perfect name, right? I don’t set the rules, just report the reality. I also can’t help but wonder about the authenticity of this “kid’s” birth certificate—he looks like he could have come from another era.

He moves with the kind of aggression you’d expect from someone decades older, like he’s already lived through enough to be frustrated about future disappointments. They say the underdog prevails, and if that’s true, good luck trying to tackle him.

Standing at 5’11” and well over 300 pounds, he carries his weight much like a character from an old video game. I’m genuinely excited to see him play, and it seems I’m not alone in this anticipation.

Often, when big players aspire to skill positions, they get shifted to defensive tackle or interior offensive lineman, which would be a real shame in this case. If he manages to catch a touchdown at Rice-Eccles Stadium this fall, his name, image, and likeness potential should skyrocket.

I mean, it seems like Mack Trucks has been on the lookout for a spokesperson like him—let’s make that happen! I’ll be watching the Utes this season, hoping not to miss the unfortunate defensive back who ends up facing him in practice. It might be wise to bring an ice bath to Salt Lake City.
