“The View” co-host Alyssa Farrah Griffin on Wednesday warned President Biden that he can’t “live in fear” of the left wing of his party on immigration or he could lose the election.
“This is a crisis. This is the No. 1 issue for voters,” Griffin said. Shortly after, he said of the president, “He has five months to prove he can help solve this process. Joe Biden can’t live in fear of the left or he’s going to lose.”
President Biden has temporarily suspended entry of foreign nationals across the southern border if the number of encounters at the border exceeds a seven-day daily average of 2,500, officials said.
The hosts discussed the backlash Biden has received from both parties, including Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), who said Biden is “playing the same game” as Donald Trump on the border.
Biden is expected to announce the border measures amid rising political tensions ahead of the November election.

Citing claims from the left that those who support border security are “bigots and racists,” Griffin argued that both Democrats and Republicans have gotten things wrong on immigration. He argued that Republicans made a mistake by blocking a border bill supported by Biden in Congress earlier this year.
Co-host Sunny Hostin acknowledged that Biden issued the executive order “because of the political threat.”
“We’re five months away from the election, but at least he’s doing something,” Hostin said.
Co-host Sara Haines lamented that Congress had failed to pass a border bill, forcing Biden to take action himself.
“The problem with this executive order getting Biden to do that is it doesn’t include many of the more comprehensive parts that are in the bill, which means they have an outdated system, they don’t have enough support, they don’t have enough judges, they don’t have enough social workers, they don’t have everything,” Haines said.

“This is a Band-Aid that he was forced to do, and some people are calling it political,” she said. “We’ve seen this happen for decades and we need to do something about it. After Donald Trump and Title 42 expired, the numbers really got too big.”
Biden’s border control measures will keep the suspension in place for up to 14 days after the seven-day average number of encounters along the border falls below 1,500, which officials said will make it easier for immigration officers to quickly remove individuals who do not have a legal basis to be in the United States.

The order includes several exceptions for people coming across the border. It does not apply to visa holders, unaccompanied children, victims of serious human trafficking, or those facing acute medical emergencies or imminent threats to their life or safety. It also does not apply to people using the CBP One app to enter the US at ports of entry (about 1,500 migrants are allowed into the US each day).
