'The View' co-hosts share Harris's belief that impeaching Trump is pointless

Co-hosts of “The View” Back Kamala Harris on Impeachment Concerns

During a recent episode, the hosts of “The View” echoed the sentiments of former Vice President Kamala Harris, who stated that pursuing impeachment may not be the best utilization of the Democratic Party’s resources, especially if they reclaim control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections.

On a podcast, Harris expressed her reservations about impeachment, saying, “Honestly, it’s not a good idea. We have limited resources, and I believe our focus should be on accountability and investigations. That’s where our efforts need to be concentrated.” She also mentioned her experience in the Senate: “The votes just aren’t there.”

Following a clip of Harris’s remarks, the co-hosts of “The View” generally agreed with her perspective.

KAMALA HARRIS WARNS DEMOCRATS AGAINST IMPEACHING TRUMP

Sunny Hostin, one of the co-hosts, remarked, “As far as Trump goes, I don’t think that should be the priority. Hakeem Jeffries—who likely will be the next House speaker—has a plan for the first 100 days that focuses on tax credits, managing ICE, and addressing stock trading policies.” Hostin pointed out that this plan could involve revoking many of Trump’s unpopular policies, suggesting a more constructive path forward.

Ana Navarro added, “We need to be realistic about what can actually be achieved. The election is just days away. Before discussing what to do post-victory, Democrats first need to secure that win.” She emphasized the importance of voter turnout over impeachment discussions, acknowledging the limitations they would face even if they take control, given that Trump remains president. “Legislation requires his signature or a veto-proof majority, which is tough to accomplish,” she said. “I’m against impeachment. There are numerous other avenues to hold Trump accountable.”

Navarro elaborated further, stating, “The 67 votes needed in the Senate for an indictment make impeachment a moot point.” Joy Behar also chimed in, referencing how Nixon resigned after realizing he lacked the Senate support to avoid conviction. She concluded, “Without the votes to convict, impeachment is pointless.”

DEMOCRATS NEED A STRATEGY WITHOUT IMPEACHMENT

Sara Haines pointed out that many of Trump’s former supporters feel disgruntled with him for not delivering on promises, suggesting that Democrats could attract these voters by fulfilling their own commitments. “It’s crucial to acknowledge where we are,” she said. “Trump promised many things that he hasn’t tackled, and that’s why we’ve seen some red states shift to blue.” She advocated for visible and immediate action from Democrats, even if it can’t bypass the president’s veto.

Alyssa Farah Griffin emphasized that impeachment should not be the focus, highlighting the financial costs and the benefits of prioritizing bipartisan efforts on issues that could help Americans. “Repealing tariffs, which Congress has the power to do, and addressing the war in Iran could gain Republican support,” she said, viewing these actions as ways to relieve financial burdens on citizens.

Earlier, Democratic strategist James Carville also cautioned against impeachment if the Democrats regain control after the midterms.

DEMOCRATS FACE CHALLENGES AHEAD

Dan Turrentine, a Democratic strategist, shared with Fox News Digital that neither Senate support nor public opinion favors impeachment. He mentioned various public grievances with the president regarding issues like the economy and healthcare, asserting, “Our aim should be to advocate for real life concerns of people while also ensuring oversight of the executive.” Turrentine warned that pursuing revenge will lead to swiftly losing electoral support.
