Co-hosts of ABC’s “The View” criticized South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, calling her “Governor Cruella” over her upcoming memoir in which she reveals she once killed a young dog. He was labeled a “sociopath.”
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg said that while “both sides of the aisle don’t really agree,” they were “united in outrage” over the excerpt from Noem’s upcoming memoir, No Going Back. He started the corner by saying that he was there. In excerpts reported by the Guardian, Noem said she took Cricket, a 14-month-old female dog, to a “gravel pit” near her farm and shot her to death because she was “worthless” and “untrainable.” . And he killed some chickens.
“Give it back, dude, give it back, why kill it?” Goldberg said before asking his fellow panelists for their opinions.

“This is a puppy. If your dog is misbehaving, it’s because you’re not capable of training him,” Alyssa Farrar Griffin said.
“If you have a really challenging dog, there are countless organizations out there that will re-home that dog to someone who loves them enough. I want justice for Cricket,” she continued. “That’s terrible.”
Sunny Hostin said, “People who kill animals are a sign of a sociopath.”
“I’m not a clinician, but she killed her own animal,” Hostin said, noting that Noem also said she killed a “mean, mean” goat at the same gravel pit.
Hostin then said that since Cricket was a hunting dog and Noem wanted him to help her hunt pheasants, it made sense to kill the chicken.
“That’s what she wanted the dog to do, and she killed the dog,” Hostin said.
“Please give a shout out to all the animal rescues who would have taken Cricket and loved Cricket,” she added. “It’s really important that people understand that dogs are sometimes like your children. They’re your fur babies. Not only did she do something like this, but she wrote about it. , defending it is despicable.”

Ana Navarro, a sharp critic of former President Trump who is considered the Republican nominee, said she hoped Noem would be chosen as her running mate “so we can all show up with our puppies and protest against her.” He said he was there. She also noted that there are dozens of animal rescue organizations in South Dakota.
“The only woman I know who shot a dog is Cruella de Vil. She used to be the villain in a Disney movie and now she’s Governor Cruella…and she doesn’t talk about it like it’s normal.” I couldn’t believe he wrote it as if it were a thing,” Navarro said. “If she hates and shoots untrainable dogs that are dangerous to anyone she comes in contact with, President Trump better watch out.”
Sarah Haines reminded viewers that Noem called the dog “worthless” as a hunting dog in the excerpt.
“It’s shocking to actually do something like that,” Haynes said. “What was she thinking, the idea that she would write it in a book and make it known to other people?”
Griffin believes Noem thought it would make him look tough to President Trump, but the former White House director of strategic communications said he doesn’t feel that strategy resonates. .

“He would think it was weird. He hardly steps out of the country club. He shoots women…no ‘Old Yeller’ style,” she said.
Noem initially addressed the controversy on Friday, writing on X that her family loves animals but that “difficult decisions” are often made on farms.
“We love animals, but difficult decisions like this happen all the time on farms.Sadly, a few weeks ago we had to put down three horses that had been in our family for 25 years. ” she posted, encouraging people to buy. Her memoir is a collection of “true, honest, politically incorrect stories that have taken the media’s breath away.”
On Sunday, Noem said she doesn’t shy away from making difficult decisions and believes “people want real leadership.”
