Sunny Hostin Defends Savannah Chrisley on “The View”
On a recent episode of her podcast, “Behind the Table,” Sunny Hostin, a co-host of “The View,” spoke out in support of Savannah Chrisley, who guest hosted the talk show. Hostin addressed the backlash from some fans who were upset about Chrisley’s appearance, particularly in relation to her connections with Trump supporters.
“The response on social media was intense,” remarked producer Brian Teta, noting that some viewers were quite upset. They were particularly against the notion of having Trump allies on the show.
During last week’s episode, Chrisley engaged with her liberal co-hosts, sharing differing views, especially about former President Donald Trump.
Hostin countered the critique by stating, “That’s what ‘The View’ is about. We need to talk to those who have supported him.” She also shared a personal note, mentioning that some of her own family members cast their votes for Trump multiple times.
Teta suggested that many fans of the show might have family members who support the former president, perhaps making them feel alienated by the show’s lineup.
Hostin acknowledged the backlash, saying, “It’s tough.” Teta added that the criticism directed at Chrisley often felt personal. “Fans seem to think we’re being forced into this,” he said, dismissing the idea.
Despite their differences, Hostin found common ground with Chrisley, mentioning their similar faith backgrounds. She described Chrisley as courageous, especially for a young woman navigating such a platform at just 28.
Chrisley recounted a personal disagreement with Hostin during their previous week, stemming from a discussion about her parents, who received pardons from Trump. They managed to resolve their differences after communicating off-camera, with Chrisley expressing that she initially wasn’t a fan of Hostin but appreciated their conversation.
In a moment of mutual respect, Chrisley said, “I’m glad we could have these discussions as women.” She acknowledged her instinct to protect her family but felt positive about their dialogue.
Both co-hosts advised Chrisley against dwelling on the negative comments she received during her guest appearance, emphasizing the importance of focusing on constructive conversations rather than the detractors.
