Penthouse Where The Weeknd Lived Up for Sale at $35 Million

An impressive triplex penthouse that once housed The Weeknd and his former girlfriend, Bella Hadid, is now available for purchase at a staggering $35 million.

The Grammy-winning artist, known as Abel Tesfaye, rented this luxury penthouse on 443 Greenwich Street starting in 2018 for around $60,000 monthly. Reports suggest that he extended his lease during the pandemic, even after his split from Hadid.

This penthouse has a sought-after parking garage. There are only 12 parking spaces in the entire building, which are rarely available. When they do come to market, they typically fetch around $1.5 million each.

Known as Penthouse D, this apartment has a unique charm as it occupies the site of a converted 19th-century bookbinding factory, designed by the architectural firm CetraRuddy.

443 Greenwich has attracted numerous celebrities, thanks partly to its desirable location and privacy. Notable residents have included Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel, Meg Ryan, Rebel Wilson, Harry Styles,Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, and Jennifer Lawrence.

This penthouse spans about 5,000 square feet indoors with an extra 1,000 square feet of outdoor space. It features four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, making it quite spacious.

Equipped with smart technology, the home opens from a locked elevator into a marble entryway leading to a grand room adorned with a reclaimed exposed ceiling, seven large windows, and a stylish marble gas fireplace.

Design highlights include a Christopher Peacock kitchen and a windowed home office, along with wide white oak floors and extensive custom storage options.

On the upper level, the primary suite offers a dressing area and a luxurious bath complete with heated flooring. This floor also includes a second bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a bonus space that could serve as a den or a fourth bedroom.

The top level boasts a chic lounge, surrounded by accordion-style glass doors, leading out to a stunning rooftop terrace featuring skyline views, an outdoor kitchen, and thoughtfully designed lighting, acoustics, and irrigation.

Nathan Berman from Metro Lofts, the building’s developer, previously stated that discounts were provided to high-profile residents like Timberlake and Biel to attract them to the property. The couple reportedly purchased their unit for $20.18 million back in 2017.

Listing broker Jared Schwadron from Compass noted that those discount periods have ended. The penthouse incurs a monthly common charge of $11,362. It was listed for $27.5 million in 2021 and 2022, and last year it was offered for rent at $80,000 a month. It has since been rented out and is currently empty and staged.

Schwadron mentioned that the new asking price of $35 million reflects the demand for these units.

He also pointed out that since the building’s closing in 2016, this particular apartment has seen limited use. Many tenants simply utilized it as a temporary residence.

According to Schwadron, “This is a multi-generational building. Some residents choose not to sell and pass their apartments down to family.”
