I obviously know the ball. So when I detailed theft of the WNBA Draft, the general manager listened to me. That’s why all five players I highlighted were drafted as great and underrated players. clearly.
Many of Mondays WNBA The drafters were stolen, but some of the third round picks of this year’s draft were particularly interesting.
This reminds me of how that round went:
- 26. Serena Sundell (Kansas Avenue) – Seattle Storm
- 27. JJQuinerly (West Virginia) – Dallas Wings
- 28. LiatuKing (Notre Dame) – laSparks
- 29. Madison Connor (TCU) – Seattle Storm
- 30. Cait Rinchen (uconn) – Golden State Valkyrie
- 31. Aaronette Vonleh (Baylor) – Dallas Wings
- 32. Zaay Green (Alabama) – Washington Mystics
- 33. Yvonne Ejim (Gonzaga) – Indiana Fever
- 34. Jordan Hobbs (Michigan) – Seattle Storm
- 35. Harvard – Las Vegas Ace
- 36. Taylor Tierry (Ohio) – Dreams of Atlanta
- 37. Aubrey Griffin (UConn) – Minnesota Lynx
- 38. AdjaKane (France) – New York Liberty
Sundell, Chen and Hobbs were all players I wrote last week that I might have written. Sundell was invited to the draft and had to wait until his third round to be drafted. As a Master Playmaker, Sandel’s style fits the Basketball Seattle brand.
Chen was another player in the draft, but chose her teammate in the audience and No. 1 Page Buker. Her name was called, so her teammates celebrated her and she went up to take a photo with her jersey, and seemed a bit shocked to say the least. During UConn’s championship run at the March Madness Tournament, Chen was balled out, showing his versatility as a point guard and his ability to stay cool under pressure. She gets a shot with the brand new Valkyries team. There, she has a good chance, as the third round does to make the expansion team roster.
Hobbs is the player who also went ball out in the postseason and scored 28 points in Michigan’s last game in the tournament. She can shoot three balls, she can shoot passes, she is hardworking. She also has a motor, grit and influences the game in a variety of ways. Seattle training camp is the perfect place for her to impress the WNBA.
Other players in this third round might be interesting to follow.
Griffin was another player sitting in the crowd during the draft. Another teammate of Page Booker, Griffin, played six seasons at UConn after considering the season of injury. She may not have received that many minutes in her later years, but each time Griffin steps onto the floor, she finds a way to influence through rebound, defense, and other fuss.
Harmoni Turner won the Becky Hammon Mid Major Player of the Year Award this season, along the way to win Harvard’s Ivy League Championship and the NCAA Tournament Bertse. It’s a bucket that coins the term “geeks can hoop too.” She will host multiple 40-point games this season and join the Ace in Las Vegas for training camp.
Yvonne Ezim is an international Canadian player who played for Gonzaga in college and boasts a lot of experience. She played at all levels of the Canadian national team and brought that international experience to her game. Ezim is doubled annual West Coast Conference Player of the Year, defensive player of the year, and 2024 Becky Hamon Mid Major Player of the Year.
As the WNBA continues to create more roster spots, more players will be shot at making rosters, so when considering potential rookies to look at this season, these third-round picks should not be ignored.
