‘The Young and the Restless’ Star Meg Bennett Dead at 75

Actress Meg Bennett – long-running on CBS the young and the restless and went on to become a soap opera writer for several popular shows, including ABC. general Hospital — Died at the age of 75.

Meg Bennett passed away on April 11th after a battle with cancer, her family wrote online. Obituary posted on sunday Los Angeles Times.

“Near the end of her life, she was devoted to her children, her writing, and her extended family and friends,” her family wrote.

During her long career in daytime television, Bennett became best known for playing the character Julia Newman, the first wife of villainous tycoon Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). the young and the restless. She played the role from her 1980 to her 2002.

Her ability to improve scripts on the fly led to her being hired as the show’s scriptwriter. Her writing talent led to work on several other hit soaps, including: General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, Santa Barbara, and sunset beach.

Bennett won a Daytime Emmy Award for her work. general Hospital In 1995.

Meg Bennett grew up in Pasadena and attended John Muir High School. She majored in theater at Northwestern University, where she performed in summer stock as a homecoming queen and a Miss America contestant, according to her family’s obituary.

Her survivors include her husband, Robert Guza Jr., who was a lead writer on television shows; general Hospital.
