Therapist Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault

A man who started an LGBTQ+ therapy practice is facing serious allegations after being accused of sexually assaulting two patients.

Joseph LoGiudice is the founder of “Liberation Psychotherapy” and served as its clinical director during the time of the alleged incidents, as stated in a press release from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Bragg said, “While expressly described as an LGBTQ-centered practice, we allege that LoGiudice abused the trust placed in him as a therapist to sexually assault members of the LGBTQ community he serves.”

Interestingly, one of the accusations surfaced after another indictment against Remington Yhap, a colleague at the same practice, who was arrested for allegedly raping a teenage patient in his care.

According to Bragg’s statement, LoGiudice is accused of sexually assaulting two patients at the practice he established. One victim reported being assaulted in November 2022 after two separate instances of “sexual misconduct.” The second alleged assault occurred following a group therapy session in January 2024 and again in January 2026 during a private session.

Bragg highlighted that the investigation is still ongoing, with LoGiudice facing 24 counts linked to the alleged offenses. These include 10 counts of third-degree criminal sex acts, 13 counts of third-degree sexual abuse, and a single count of third-degree rape.

LoGiudice has also led the Gay Men’s Therapy Group and is a licensed clinical social worker.

Additional information reveals that he authored a book titled “Our Naked Lives: Essays from Gay Italian-American Men” in 2013 and expressed views on capitalism affecting people emotionally and psychologically in an article. He was married to Michael Carosone, another therapist at Liberation Psychotherapy, who has spoken out against alleged anti-Semitic comments made by LoGiudice.

Bragg encouraged anyone who might have been a victim to reach out to his office.
