There is a desperate campaign behind the scenes at Wikipedia to hide JD Vance’s military medals

It’s clear there’s a campaign underway to erase the past in order to help Democrats seal off the future.

Republican strategists, conservatives, and others Keen Observer Wikipedia has been found to be working behind the scenes to downplay the military record of Republican Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio, while the controversy over the military record of Democratic Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota is conspicuously left unmentioned on the site.

The campaign to bury Vance’s medal appears to have begun in earnest after President Donald Trump nominated him as his running mate last month.

Wikipedia is a hugely popular online encyclopedia that receives more than 4 billion visits each month. This treasure trove of accurate information is maintained by a left-leaning former CEO.
stated Some have suggested that “references of truth could become a distraction that prevents us from finding common ground and getting things done.” This is the seventh most visited domain on the World Wide Web, which could have a major impact on AI systems as well as on voters and ultimately elections.

The problem is that truth can sometimes take a back seat on Wikipedia, or at least be relegated to a less prominent spot. For example, Wikipedia presents Cultural Marxism as a “far-right” conspiracy theory.

The way information is presented on the site is also very biased.

The Manhattan Institute recently
Condemnation and Comprehensive Research The study highlights the site’s left-leaning bias: Among other indications of bias, the study found that “the names of prominent left-wing U.S. politicians are significantly more likely to be used with positive sentiment than the names of prominent right-wing politicians.”

The study further noted that “in Wikipedia articles, right-leaning terms are more often associated with emotion categories such as anger and disgust than left-leaning terms. In contrast, left-leaning terms are more often associated with emotion categories such as joy than right-leaning terms.”

Wikipedia’s bias is evident in a recent scandal over the different approaches it took to vice presidential candidates in this year’s election.

“There’s no reason to leave that information out.”

Vance’s Wikipedia page, like that of most politicians and public figures, has an “info box” on the right-hand side that lists key biographical details, including his occupation, educational background and military service details.

Revision History Log and
Talk page It sheds light on the struggle over what should be included in Vance’s military medal.

July 29thThe page displayed Vance’s Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Sea Service Ribbons.

August 3The editors have whittled the list down to three medals.

August 8The page listed only the former Marine’s Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal. the next dayApparently, Vance only won the first of these two medals.

At one stage, the editor
asked“What is the point of listing this award?[?]”

Behind the scenes, some appeared to push back against efforts to conceal Vance’s background.

Written“I understand there are those who are against military medals, but let’s honor the service and sacrifice of those who have served.”

“At the very least, campaign medals should be included, but any medals won should be listed. There’s no reason to leave that information out,” one user wrote.

“I checked the edit history to see when and how these medals were removed and it seems clearly malicious,” another editor said.

According to the talk page, which is packed with evidence of a strong desire to undermine Vance politically, a request was made on Monday to return “a list of his military medals that were removed between July and August 11,” and it appears that this was tentatively complied with. However, at the time of publication, the info box only listed two military medals.

Wikipedia’s left-wing volunteers may not want you to know this, but Vance

attention“Even worse, left-wing @Wikipedia removed @JDVance’s military awards from his page, but still incorrectly lists Stolen Valor’s Tim Walz’s rank as ‘Sergeant Major.'”

The Blaze News previously reported that Thomas Behrens, a former member of Waltz’s unit and now a retired master sergeant in the Minnesota National Guard, questioned the veracity of Waltz’s rank listed on Wikipedia.

Harris’ running mate has apparently not completed the training and necessary coursework to become a command sergeant major at the U.S. Army Sergeant Major General School.
Discharge documents Contrary to Waltz’s claims, the name was changed to show that he retired at the rank of sergeant major, not master sergeant.

John Kolb, a Democrat who became a lieutenant colonel in Waltz’s unit after Waltz retired, recently acknowledged that Waltz “did not perform any of his duties as a sergeant well.”
