Beware of Sneaky Clones
I’m not here to complain or be grumpy. Honestly, I’m not even mean—just living my life, you know?
But, I have to mention that the third season of Elsbeth, which airs on Thursdays on CBS, includes a character that bears a striking resemblance to me. Seriously, it feels like I’m seeing myself in fiction. At least, that’s what Google seems to think, too. This isn’t my first experience with this sort of thing. A while back, Horsman Doll Co. launched the Cindy Doll, which looks just like me—hair, eyes, the whole package. Ironically, I ended up buying one.
The lead character of this show is a lawyer who mirrors a gossip columnist type, much like Cindy Adams. We’re talking about tea, conversations, celebrity sightings, and all the juicy bits you’d expect—glamour, secretive fact-checking, and the preparation for tomorrow’s column.
Some of the comments about this character seem to echo the sharp-tongued style of Cindy Adams. It’s definitely not your average gossip fare.
There’s another article out there making a connection between this columnist and Cindy Adams, who often dives into discussions about media personalities on her own Facebook talk shows. It stirs up some lively gossip and debate, particularly about whether this character draws from Adams, who is known for sharing people’s secrets.
I’ve received plenty of notes pointing out this alignment with Adams, yet I was never consulted for this piece. It’s a bit frustrating, to say the least.
Looking deeper, it seems that some documentation about the show references Cindy Adams. Even an old Times Magazine article about me popped up. I genuinely don’t know why my name is linked to this project.
It feels like they didn’t do their homework, assuming it was all made-up chit-chat without realizing the nuances.
Oh, and on a side note regarding CBS, I had an idea I wanted to pitch to Bari Weiss, their new News Manager. Not that I’m looking for a role—just thought it was worth sharing. But, she didn’t respond to my calls, which adds to my annoyance.
Royal Malfeasance
Andrew Lowney’s latest book from HarperCollins, titled “Rights Included,” is due out next week in paperback. It features interviews with friends, colleagues, diplomats, and various others—many sharing their stories for the first time.
In a shocking claim, Fergie has suggested she had a relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs, taking her daughters to his wild parties. Interestingly, her staff don’t usually last beyond their first day, with their pay often replaced by cigarettes. They seem to rely on her daughter Beatrice’s credit card.
Prince Andrew, for his part, alleges connections to Russian organized crime. When it comes to his current mindset and lack of any regrets, it’s unclear what he really thinks about his past actions. Even his treatment of his dog has raised eyebrows.
Just keep in mind, royals tend to put their own interests first.
This is not New York, kids, definitely not New York.
