Rosie O’Donnell, the comedian who left the United States over her strong feelings towards President Donald Trump, expresses that she has no regrets about relocating to Ireland.

O’Donnell spoke on Chris Cuomo’s Sirius show.

Last March, she shared that she had chosen to move to Ireland in January, stating: “I thought it was the best choice for myself and my 12-year-old child.”

Recently, she did make a trip back to the United States.

“I didn’t inform anyone specifically. It was just a family visit. I wanted to see how challenging it is to come and go from the country,” she mentioned. “I spent two weeks in New York, and it really felt like an entirely different place to me.”

O’Donnell noted that life in Ireland contrasts sharply with that in the U.S., particularly because of the absence of “celebrity worship.”

“I’ve been in a space where that kind of adoration doesn’t exist. The news is more balanced. In Ireland, it’s not all about wanting more and more. It’s an entirely different culture,” she continued. “Since leaving, I perceive the U.S. in a new way.”

However, if she had stepped out of the Hollywood scene more regularly, she might have recognized a lack of celebrity fascination elsewhere in the U.S., outside of metropolitan areas.

Regardless, O’Donnell stands firm in her decision to leave the U.S.

“I absolutely don’t regret my departure,” she told Cuomo. “I feel it was necessary for my well-being, for my kids, and my mental health. I’m really relieved to not be amidst all of it, as the energy I sensed while in the U.S. was, simply put, frightening. There’s a feeling that something is seriously wrong, and no one seems to be addressing it.”

O’Donnell has spent significant time expressing her anti-Trump sentiments on TikTok, in interviews, and various other platforms.

She also confessed that thoughts of Trump occupy her mind daily, and even her therapist pointed out that her fixation isn’t healthy.
