Austin – On Sunday, at least 51 Democratic representatives from the Texas House of Representatives departed Texas to block a vote scheduled for Monday on a redrawn congressional district map.

The current Democratic count for Tuesday’s session is 54 members, which is two short of the 56 needed to maintain a quorum, down from 62 Democrats in total within the 89th Texas House. This information comes from the Texas Legislative Reference Library.
