Thief who went to prison for 20 years jailed for NYC wig theft

The career criminal, who arrested nearly 60 people on his rap sheet, robbed a Brooklyn wig store and made money on the expensive portion of $30,000.

Daron Ware, 52, is said to have crashed into a hustlewig shop on Dean Street in Crown Heights on the morning of March 4th. Police detectives have obtained surveillance video of a man entering a closed store and leaving with a stuffed animal.

“They took wigs and materials to make wigs, like hair, hats, some random stuff.” Co-owner Rivka Krinsky I said.

According to Krinsky, nine of the stolen hairpieces were valued at around $30,000, each at around $3,300.

Some of the wigs in the storemade from real human hair and sold to cancer patients, Klinsky said, but he didn’t know how many stolen wigs were for the patients.

“The client didn’t know because they were able to replace the orders very quickly,” she said. “We were able to get everything out on time.”

Ware, a four-time convicted felon who was already on parole until December 2026, has a long history of law violations in the big apple dating back to the 1980s, police sources said.

In 1990, he went to prison for a year after being stolen from a loaded firearm, sources said.

Ware was then re-arrested on robbery charges in 1991, and spent 17 years behind the bar until 2009, police sources said.

The repeat offender took another break to the law in 2013, and went for three years for another robbery, sources said.

After his release in 2016, Ware was convicted of 14 other misdemeanors, sources told the Post, including a 2020 felony robbery charge for stealing packages from a Brooklyn building.

While awaiting the sentence, Ware disappeared and was on the ram over a year before authorities discovered him, sources said. He was sentenced to another 2-4 years in prison.
