U.S. Marshals arrested a third suspect Tuesday in the March 6 shooting at a SEPTA bus stop in Philadelphia that injured eight high school students. At least one other suspect is still at large.

The shooting occurred around 3 p.m. on March 6 near the intersection of Cottman Avenue and Rising Sun Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia.

On Wednesday, members of the Eastern Pennsylvania U.S. Marshals Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force and members of the Philadelphia Police Department Shooting Task Force arrested 19-year-old Jermad Carter, who was wanted on charges of attempted murder, firearms violations and charges related to the shooting. was arrested. .

The arrest occurred when investigators surrounded a home in the 12000 block of Academy Road in Philadelphia around 3:30 p.m.

Investigators believed Carter was hiding at the home of an acquaintance, and when task force members knocked on the door, a family member confirmed the fugitive was inside.

Carter was then taken into custody without incident and taken to Philadelphia Police Headquarters for processing, according to a press release from the U.S. Marshals Service.

“With the arrest of Jermad Carter, we are now searching for another suspect,” said Supervising Deputy Sheriff Robert Clark of the Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force. “We are asking the family of this suspect to turn himself in by tomorrow morning and, if that does not happen, we stand ready to aggressively pursue him using all available investigative resources. be.”
