Third undocumented immigrant taken into custody for murder in Virginia sanctuary county within a month.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has reached out to Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger and officials in Fairfax County regarding a third ICE detainee. This individual is an illegal immigrant accused of committing murder. The string of three murders was reported to have occurred within just about a month in the same northern Virginia area.

According to reports from Breitbart News, ICE has detained 28-year-old Misael Lopez Gomez, an undocumented immigrant from Guatemala. He faces a new arrest warrant, being suspected in the tragic death of his 3-month-old daughter due to blunt force trauma. ICE is urging Governor Spanberger and other sanctuary state politicians to hand over López-Gomez to its agents upon his release, rather than allowing him to remain in the community.

On the evening of March 27, shortly after 7:30 p.m., police in Fairfax County responded to a call about an unresponsive infant in the 3400 block of Lake Street, located in the Bailey’s Crossroads area. When they arrived, officers began CPR, later transferred to rescue personnel who took over. Reportedly, the infant was under the father’s care, Misael Lopez Gomez, at that time.

The child was transported to a local hospital but sadly was pronounced dead shortly after. Investigators and hospital staff discovered signs indicating abuse, leading to concerns from authorities. Preliminary autopsy findings suggest blunt force trauma as the cause of death.

Lopez-Gomez is now being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bail and faces charges of second-degree murder and felony child abuse.

DHS Assistant Secretary Lauen Biss commented on López-Gomez’s situation, stating, “This cold-blooded killer murdered his own 3-month-old daughter. We urge Governor Spanberger to ensure this dangerous individual does not get released back into Virginia communities.”

Lopez-Gomez has reportedly admitted to unlawfully crossing into the United States in July 2023 through the southern border near Albuquerque, New Mexico. Biss criticized the Biden administration, stating, “Allowing this monster into the country was a mistake. We require the support of sanctuary leaders to prevent criminals from being freed to repeat their offenses and create more victims.”

Similar to this case, another request was made to Virginia officials for a separate illegal immigrant suspected of murder in Fairfax County, as reported by Breitbart News. ICE has detained 38-year-old Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, who is also from Guatemala, linked to the fatal stabbing of an unnamed man in the 6000 block of Bellevue Drive in the Bailey’s Crossroads area shortly before 9 p.m. on a Sunday.

Authorities believe Chavarria-Mui may have had a prior association with the victim. He faces charges of second-degree murder and is currently being held without bail at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Additionally, DHS highlighted a previous request made in late February involving Abdul Jallow, a repeat offender, undocumented immigrant, and Sierra Leonean national, once again in custody for the stabbing death of 41-year-old Stephanie Minter from Fredericksburg.

Abdul Jallow had an extensive criminal record with over 30 arrests before his charge in Minter’s murder at a Fredericksburg bus stop. DHS asserts that Jallow illegally entered the U.S. around 2012, with a prior run-in with law enforcement for various offenses including rape, assault, drug possession, and theft.

Back in 2020, ICE sought to detain Jallow, and a judge had issued a final removal order, allowing for extradition elsewhere besides Sierra Leone. Yet, despite this order, Jallow was able to return to Fairfax County until his arrest for the murder of Minter in Fredericksburg.
