DiCaprio Lookalike Contest in New Jersey

A DiCaprio lookalike contest took place in New Jersey on Saturday, where participants competed for a $50 prize.

Among the seven who entered—from places like Philadelphia and Providence—was 21-year-old Nick Fine. Locals were excited, noting how much he resembled the handsome Academy Award-winning actor.

“It’s an absolute honor. I’m really grateful to be here this morning. I’m a huge Leo fan—I love his movies,” he shared enthusiastically.

The event was held at Pier-a-Park in Hoboken, with a crowd of around 40 people. It was organized by a group of college friends.

Colleen Flickinger, a Hoboken public relations professional, came up with the idea to celebrate her friend Margaret Faiful’s 25th birthday.

“Leonardo DiCaprio has a reputation for not dating anyone over 25, so we thought it would be funny to do something like this when Margaret turned that age,” she explained. “It started as a joke. I printed a few flyers, shared it on social media—and it really took off.”

“I hope this brings some joy, if nothing else,” added the birthday girl, Faiful.

They started to recruit contestants in the park, and initially, only those who heard about it online showed up. Eventually, they gathered five lookalikes, with one more joining later.

Flickinger was pleasantly surprised by the number of people walking through the park during the event.

As luck would have it, Fine was out for a walk with a friend, living just across the street from the park.

“My friends were the ones who got involved initially. They said they’d cheer for me, and it all worked out,” he said, noting how spontaneously he joined in. “I was eating breakfast just moments before.”

Fine competed against local retired iron worker Michael Stewart, 47, David Flanigan, 26, from Philadelphia, John Santos, 22, from Providence, and Eric Styrianidis, 22, a consultant.

Each contestant introduced themselves, and the crowd judged them based on applause.

When it was Fine’s turn, he simply stated, “I’m Nick, I live across the street. Leo is a total legend.”

After the first round, only Fine and Flanigan remained in the competition.

Once again, the crowd applauded, and Fine was declared the winner.

When asked about his $50 prize, he had plans already. “We’ll probably grab some beers in the next half hour,” he smiled.
