This Caleb Williams throw to Keenan Allen is why expectations are high in Chicago

July and August are months of eternal optimism in NFL circles.

As training camps begin and the new season approaches, all 32 teams are starting to take shape and some fans are beginning to believe.

of Chicago Bears The Bears are one of the teams with high expectations in the Windy City of Chicago due to an infusion of talent through free agency and the draft. A big part of those high expectations is quarterback Caleb Williams. If the dynamic quarterback and former Heisman Trophy winner can live up to the expectations, the Bears could be a very good team next season.

Williams will undoubtedly be under intense scrutiny as training camp continues in Lake Forest, but a pass like this to Keenan Allen doesn’t dampen those expectations one bit.

Keeping in mind that, A: we’re talking about practice, and B: the guys aren’t wearing full pads, this is a great throw from Williams. First, he’s rolling to his left, which makes it more difficult. But Williams does a great job of generating torque through his upper body, snapping his left shoulder toward Allen, then snapping and throwing, which helps generate torque through his upper body to generate velocity.

And then there’s the placement: With Allen moving toward the sideline, Williams makes this throw to the perfect spot.

Oh, and one final point: when he makes this pitch, both feet are off the ground.

This was one throw he made in practice, not with full pads, but to a teammate.

But it’s a perfect example of why expectations are so high in Chicago.
