Couple Uncovers Surprising Discoveries While Renovating Their New Home
New Delhi: A millennial couple who bought a 145-year-old property in the UK found some unexpected treasures beneath it.
In August 2023, Christopher Jones and Paloma Mills became owners of a three-bedroom Victorian house. Since getting the keys, they have spent the last two years turning the neglected property into their dream home. However, what they encountered during some digging left them quite astonished.
Jones, 36, shared with a news outlet that they “confronted the bones” in the ground. “We were digging under the house to run plumbing for the Underus Airs toilet when we discovered what we affectionately named Chonker as our first bone,” he explained.
According to him, they found this particular bone behind a large slab of concrete, along with coins and socks from the 1970s.
But it didn’t stop there. The more they searched, the more bones they uncovered beneath the 1880 structure.
Given that some of these bones were found near a rat nest, Jones and Mills speculated that they likely belonged to animals. They also discovered what appeared to be a pair of jawbones and pantyhose.
The couple, influencers in their own right, shared their remodeling journey on social media, and their strange finds have drawn considerable interest on platforms like Instagram. On April 15th, Mills posted a video of herself with the bones.
Responses from viewers revealed confusion about the bone discovery. One user quipped, “Time to talk to the police. The house will receive free specific removal services and be exempt from council tax for the next six months.”
Another commentator remarked, “I’m not an archaeologist, but pantyhose suggests it’s human.” Another comment cautioned, “If you think it’s a crime scene, stop touching it.”
Interestingly, another British couple had a similar experience in 2022 when they found gold while renovating their home, uncovering a remarkable collection of 264 gold pieces beneath their kitchen floor. These coins, believed to be over 400 years old, were expected to bring the couple from North Yorkshire around £250,000.
