Trump Advocates for Peace Following Iran Strike

President Trump is looking for an end to hostilities and a chance for peace after a recent strike that significantly affected Iran’s nuclear capabilities, as revealed by Defense Secretary Pete Hegses.

This military action aimed to mitigate the risk of an Iranian nuclear assault on the U.S. and its allies, following Iran’s unwillingness to engage in meaningful diplomacy—especially after a major missile strike that destroyed Iran’s missile defenses.

While some hawkish voices are pushing for continued military operations until the Iranian regime is gone, Hegses emphasized the U.S. commitment to finding a peaceful path now that the immediate nuclear threat has been neutralized.

“This mission wasn’t about changing a government,” Hegses stated during a briefing alongside Pentagon Chairman Din Kane.

Hegses noted that an assessment of the damage is ongoing, but confirmed that “all our precision ammunition hit the desired targets and had the expected outcomes.”

With the strike concluded, Hegses remarked that Iran, even in its weakened state, now has a chance to return to negotiations and work toward stability in the region.

“I will ensure a mix of public and private messages reaches Iran through various channels, allowing them every opportunity to discuss peace,” Hegses explained.

According to Hegses, “They understand America’s stance. There’s a clear step they can take to foster peace, and I sincerely hope they consider it.”

He added that “while there’s potential for further conflict, we intentionally kept the scope of this operation limited. The capabilities of the U.S. military are nearly boundless, leaving Iran with clear options.”

Now is the moment for progress toward peace, he insisted.

The successful execution of the strike, which caught Iran off guard, aims to demonstrate that U.S. military might far surpasses that of the Iranian regime and that Trump’s commitment to holding Iran accountable is genuine.

Hegses reflected, “The breadth and impact of last night’s events would astonish many Americans if they witnessed it firsthand,” suggesting it would have a significant psychological influence on how Iran perceives its future.
