Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign is reportedly urging Wall Street donors to give immediately because of rules limiting contributions to certain presidential tickets.
Harris’ campaign has reportedly cited SEC rules that prohibit some employees of financial institutions from donating to presidential candidates, including sitting governors, leading many on Wall Street to conclude that Harris will nominate the governor, Axios reported Wednesday.
The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
The five candidates currently seen as likely to secure Harris’ nomination are Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, but if the signs are right, these three governors could be the ones to watch.

“Any reports regarding developments or updates regarding VP Harris’ running mate selection are premature and speculative,” a campaign spokesperson told Axios.
Kamala Harris supporters unsure about VP’s policy accomplishments
Harris could choose her running mate as soon as this week. Democrats rushed to endorse her for the presidency after President Biden bowed to party pressure and dropped out of the race. Her campaign has said she will have a running mate by the time she rallies in Philadelphia next week.

Current state of the election campaign with 100 days left until the November election
It remains to be seen whether Democrats’ enthusiasm for Harris will continue through Election Day. Harris is already ahead of Biden in the polls against former President Trump, but she still lags in most areas.
