Thomas Morstead, Sauce Gardner rip ‘disgruntled’ Mecole Hardman

Jets punter Thomas Morstead and defensive back Sauce Gardner appear to believe Mecole Hardman is a dangerous messenger.

Hardman, a former Jets wide receiver, appeared on the Pivot podcast this week and criticized Gang Green, accusing the organization of duplicity during his short time with the Jets.

Morstead fired back without calling Hardman by name.

“Be careful when obtaining information from disgruntled former employees.” Morstead tweeted Wednesday morning..

“Losing out to a rookie free agent who had millions of dollars guaranteed is hard to deal with. Rights take away opportunities. You have to earn it every year.”

The rookie Morstead is referring to is Xavier Gipson.

Gardner appeared to accuse Herdman of leaking his offensive game plan to the Eagles in a since-deleted tweet.

“I’m not going to talk about how our offensive game plan leaked against the Eagles.” Gardner tweeted.

Unsurprisingly, the Jets defeated the Eagles 20-14 that day, but this would be Hardman’s last game with the Jets.

Hardman signed a one-year deal worth $6.5 million with the Jets last offseason, but the team was thrown for a loop when star quarterback Aaron Rodgers ruptured his Achilles tendon on just the fourth snap in the season opener against the Bills. Due to this, his playing time was limited.

Hardman appeared in five games with the Jets and was targeted only three times, recording one reception for six yards.

He was then traded back to the Chiefs in mid-October and ultimately scored the winning touchdown off Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl, defeating the 49ers.

“It’s because of the lies and how they treated me. I didn’t like it at all,” Hardman said of the Jets on the “Pivot” podcast. “You can’t do that to a player. A player who paid money there. … I’m like, he plays one play, oh, no way. Like what we’re talking about, something is wrong with a brother. I need to shake it up.”
