Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said Wednesday on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” that critics calling him the “DEI mayor” “don’t have the courage to say the N-word.”
Discussing the Baltimore bridge collapse, host Joy Reid said, “The stupidest and most racist theory had to do with their latest folly, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion DEI.” “DEI did it,” the state’s Republican congressional candidate tweeted. And the right-wing blue check account, boosted in the past by Elon Musk, told its 267,000 followers, “Baltimore’s DEI Mayor Comments on Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse and It Happens.” Deaf, so it’s much worse. Prepare accordingly.’ The post included a clip of Brandon Scott, the black mayor of Baltimore.
Asked for a response, Scott said: “Black men, and especially young black men, have become the villains of racists who think only straight, wealthy white men should have a voice. I know it, we know it, and you know it very well.” anything. We have been bogeymen to them since the first day they brought us to this country. In my opinion, what DEI means is dual elected incumbents. I get what they’re trying to say, but I don’t have the courage to say the N-word. The fact that I don’t believe in their false and false ideology and am very proud of my heritage and who I am and where I come from scares them. Me being in my position means their mindset and their way of living to stay comfortable while others suffer would be a risk. They should be afraid because that is my purpose in life. ”
