TMZ reported that there might be revisions to the ransom note regarding Nancy Guthrie’s return, which was received after the initial deadline.
Pima County law enforcement provided updates at a press conference on Thursday, confirming the initial request was made at 5 p.m. local time, with a follow-up set for February 9.
The ransom note, which demands millions in Bitcoin for Nancy’s safe return, suggests that the terms could change if the Thursday deadline isn’t honored, according to sources from TMZ.
In its report, the outlet mentioned that if the ransom isn’t paid by Monday, there could be “more serious consequences.” It’s quite alarming, really, to think about what that could mean.
The letter included specific details allegedly related to Nancy’s kidnapping, such as references to her Apple Watch and a floodlight at her home in Tucson, valued at $1 million.
Interestingly, while the note lacked direct contact information for the sender, it did present a physical address for the ransom to be deposited.
Timeline of Savannah Guthrie’s mother’s disappearance:
The authenticity of the note is still under investigation by the police, who have yet to determine whether it’s genuine or a hoax.
Officials are approaching the note with caution, acknowledging the “absolute possibility” that Nancy’s disappearance might not be linked to the ransom demand at all.
Reportedly, they have “agreed” with the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Office to keep certain details of the note confidential for the investigation’s sake.
Authorities seem to be treating the situation seriously. They’ve noted certain “characteristics” of the note that lead them to believe the individuals behind it may indeed have Nancy.
Nancy, who is 84 years old, was reported missing on Sunday after failing to attend a local church service.

Savannah, along with her siblings Annie and Cameron, released a heartfelt video on Wednesday pleading with the kidnappers, indicating they’re “ready to talk” but only once they confirm their mother is alive.
“We absolutely need to know that she is alive and that you have her. We want and are ready to hear from you. Please reach out to us,” Savannah stated, clearly emotional.
Authorities confirmed that blood stains belonging to Nancy were discovered in her home. She was last seen Saturday evening after spending time with Annie and her son-in-law.
As of Thursday, investigators have not excluded Nancy’s son-in-law, who was the last known person to see her, as a potential suspect.
