Three masked men armed with a handgun approached a Maryland resident in his driveway on Halloween night, police said. The homeowner fired at them with his own weapon, leaving one suspect dead and the other two injured.
The encounter happened around 10:40 p.m. in the 10000 block of Greenside Drive in Cockeysville. The resident told officers the men threatened him before he drew his firearm and shot at them. The suspects ran, and the homeowner called 911.
Police searching nearby found one suspect dead. He was identified as 20-year-old Amon Walker. The other two men, both adults, were later located at area hospitals, where they were receiving treatment for their injuries.
Officers also recovered a loaded handgun believed to belong to the suspects. Police said there is no ongoing threat to the community. The department’s Homicide Unit is investigating.
A neighbor said the area had been busy with children earlier in the evening, and described waking to the sight of several police cars outside. He was relieved the incident happened later, after many families had left the neighborhood.
