Three people were declared dead after a tragic boat accident at a major league fishing tournament on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Lake Smith in a multiboat crash Wednesday morning, killing three people.
“Major League Fishing (MLF) is acknowledging that a serious boat accident occurred this morning at Lake Lewis Smith on the second day of the Tackle Warehouse Invitational,” MLF said in a statement. “The incident included one of the event’s competing anglers, Flint Davis of Leesburg, Georgia.”
“The paramedics and local governments responded quickly and remained at the site where they managed the situation,” he added.
According to WBMA“Eight-year-old Joey M. Bloom was fatally injured when the center console ship he was on was hit by a Nitro base boat,” Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said.
The broom was declared dead on the scene. The town of Snead in Blount County lists him on its website as one of five town council members.
“Kalman and 44-year-old John K. Clark, 62-year-old Jeffrey C. of Mississippi, were both on the center console ship. Alear said the two were thrown overboard during the incident and died in their possession.
The Kalman County Tourism Department said the incident “had a profound impact on our community as a whole.”
“Lake Smith is a valuable destination for both locals and visitors, and the incident has had a deep impact on the entire community and we are grateful for the prompt and dedicated response of our paramedics.
