Three examples of Florida teaching the federal government

Gov. Ron DeSantis has been squeezing it out in Florida, but Florida didn't even have time to deal with the damage from Hurricane Helen before Milton was already on its way.

Mr. DeSantis' leadership stands in stark contrast to the federal government, which was late on the scene and unprepared to provide the necessary support and resources.

Glenn's first clip shows Governor DeSantis addressing Floridians just before Milton lands.

“This is not an opportunity for people to take advantage of people. If you want to go in and loot, something else will come along. After the storm is over, you could go into someone's house and commit a crime. I think we're going to get into some really serious trouble and, frankly, we don't know for a second what's on the other side of that door. Don't try to take advantage of the people that are out there,” DeSantis said in a livestream video.

Glenn is impressed to say the least.

“It’s an empowering leader,” he says. “Without leadership, people perish,” and “that's exactly what's happening” in other states affected by the storm.

“Florida has strong leaders. They don't have this problem,” Glenn explains.

In the second example, DeSantis specifically said about FEMA:

“People have asked me, 'Is FEMA going to do this?' Let me be clear: In Florida, we run the show. FEMA does not run the show. We'll use them to help with some of the things we're doing, but we're not going to see FEMA run amok in Florida. I'm the sheriff in charge here, and I'll definitely protect you. Don't worry.”

“How could he say that?” Glenn asked rhetorically. In part, “because he has already proven them to be true.”

Even before Helen hit, DeSantis said, “We already had linemen lined up from all over the country ready to go wherever the storm hits.” [took] The ground,” he explained, adding: [DeSantis] About large hurricanes. ”

As for Mr. DeSantis telling the federal government to mind its own business, Mr. Glenn says he has 100% right to do so because of the Bill of Rights.

“The Bill of Rights doesn't include FEMA. The Constitution doesn't include FEMA. It's all very well for the government to keep us safe, but it's not the government's responsibility. It's not the state's responsibility. “It's the government's responsibility,” he explained, adding, “This is the way a constitutional republic works.”

Glenn's third example is how DeSantis addressed citizens' concerns about voting after the hurricane.

“Don't worry, we're already working on it. If there's an issue, we'll make sure everyone's voice is heard in the election,” Glenn says, going against the governor's promise.

“That guy is the best at everything!” he praises. “These are all hallmarks of a really well-run state.”
