Three keys for Liberty in semifinal matchup vs. Aces

The Liberty will play a four-game rematch from the 2023 WNBA Finals, where the Aces won their second straight title.

The two superteams will meet in the semifinals earlier this year starting on Sunday.

Here are Liberty's three keys to changing the game in Las Vegas.

1.Length

The biggest challenge facing the Aces is the new Liberty starting five, which replaced veteran Courtney Vandersloot and rookie Leonie Fibich.

At 6-foot-4, Fibich adds even more height to Liberty's star player, making him even more of a defensive threat.

Fievich has a strong presence against forwards and guards, which should alleviate many of the Liberty's backcourt issues in 2023.

It would be wise to keep her on the floor to contain the ace guards and because of her shooting ability.

2. Anyone but Aja

A'ja Wilson shouldn't get shots, passes or rebounds that the Liberty won't contest.

The 2024 MVP is a big threat down the stretch, and Brianna Stewart will be tasked with slowing her down.

Nevertheless, if the Liberty can get extra help from Wilson, another ace may have to become a playmaker.

3. Depth

Building their bench was at the top of the Liberty's to-do list at the end of last season, but nearly a year later, they have plenty of options for tough moments in a tight playoff schedule. It's in

While Fievic is included in the starting lineup, Vandersloot will be the one to bring his fresh legs together.

Kayla Thornton could pose a physical defensive challenge for the Aces' backcourt.

Nyara Sabally can be counted on to give Jonquel Jones a rest, grab rebounds and score some points at center.
