Three Mets relievers battling for final two spots in bullpen

PORT STREET LUCIE — The Mets’ bullpen is nearly complete for the start of the season, with final decisions looming.

Michael Tonkin, Johan Ramirez and Sean Reid-Foley remain in the bullpen after the team removed three other players from the roster on Saturday.

Phil Bickford was designated for assignment, Shintaro Fujinami received his option to the minors, and Austin Adams was reassigned to minor league camp.

Tonkin, Ramirez and Reed-Foley have no options left and would need to clear waivers to remain with the Mets if they don’t make the major league roster.

Reed-Foley suffered arm strain last week, but he pitched in a minor league game on Friday and is expected to get another chance to play in the Grapefruit League on Sunday.

Ji-Man Choi and DJ Stewart both remained in camp while the Mets tried to decide on a left-handed hitter who could come off the bench.

Choi can opt out of his contract if he is not added to the major league roster at the start of the season.

Stewart still has minor league options.

Luke Voit, Jose Iglesias and Tomas Nido were notified Saturday that they would be removed from the roster.

All three plan to continue camping until the end of Monday.

Manager Carlos Mendoza announced pitching adjustments to start the season behind Jose Quintana, who started the opening game, and Luis Severino, who started the second game.

The rest are Tyler Megill, Sean Manaea, and Adrian Hauser.

Megill was named to the rotation last week as Kodai Chiga is rehabbing from a strained right shoulder and will start the season on the IL.

The Mets will play their final game of the spring against the Nationals on Sunday at Clover Park (the division team will play the Marlins in Jupiter) before taking a bus to Tampa in the evening.

The Mets will play the Yankees on Monday before flying to New York.
